I always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer. I have been sewing since age 9. I briefly attended fashion school for one year after high school, but it killed my dreams. I was being trained on how to work in the industry rather than how to be a highly skilled technical artist. The industry wasn’t for me; anti-fat, pro-capitalist, cut throat, and racist. Now that I think about it, the fashion industry is just like the Adult Entertainment industry.
BUT, there are lots of folks out there in both industries challenging the status quo and social “norms” of these industries and doing things independently. You don’t need fancy latex clothes to fit into a kink party. You don’t need designer gowns to be a legitimate person. And if you do want to have these things, Do-It-Yourself.
